The objective of the River City Cycle Club is to actively promote cycling interests in Campbell River, and to build a stronger cycling community.  Our club organizes and promotes local races and cycling related events. We work to legitimize and maintain legal cycling facilities and trails in the Campbell River area.

The bike racks have arrived - now for the volunteers! One of the obstacles to riding a bicycle downtown is the lack of safe and secure bike parking. The Cycling Advocacy Committee would like to change that. To that end we’ve acquired some portable bike racks and fencing in order to provide free bike parking for public events around the city. We’re going to start with the Sunday Market that takes place at Spirit Square throughout the summer. Our goal is to provide a useful service - but also to connect with people who make use of their bikes for recreation and/or transportation. Can you help us? Join us and some crew from BC Bike Race for the third trail day of 2023 and give back a little love to the Snowden Trail Network!!! We will meet Sunday Apri23rd. at 9:45 am at the Lost Lake parking lot. With funding help from @bcbikerace we will be installing a new bridge and completing a minor reroute to improve the alignment at the bridge crossing. Note everyone attending the trail day either needs to be an RCCC insured member or needs to complete an online waiver. Non-insured members can sign two waivers before they are required to join. Bring water and a light snack for the trail day and we will have pizza and beverages at Lost Lake after the event thanks to Gold Sponsors @bpcampbellriver and @beachfirebrewing Digging will go until approx 2pm. Hope to see a bunch of you there! Please come prepared with sturdy footwear, gloves, appropriate clothing for the weather and a great stoke for moving gold. Please indicate whether you are “going” on the FB event at least 48hrs in advance to assist with planning. You must be be capable of safely hiking into the trail location and capable of moving rocks and dirt for 3 - 4 hours with short breaks. This is a community coaching course (NCCP), targeting Grade 3-5 kids, but great training for helping all beginners. This week's ride had it all: 1. -5 degrees (my big toes were purple even with wool ski socks) 2. Clear, slick, slippery ice in unexpected places that took a few of us down 3. More coughing, snorting, and generally gross phlemgy sounds than on any other ride 4. Frozen water bottles 5. Dropped chains ++ (one of my links actually broke in half, but I was able to ride it out before I found it) 6. Post ride beverages of hot chocolate and marshmallows 7. Cycle 16 Trail Society - To build a paved 12 kilometer trail within the Highway 16 right-of-way connecting the Village of Telkwa and the Town of Smithers.
